TRAVELLING WARES

Sometimes I find something, like today's post, and think to myself "I wish I was brave enough to quit work and do something cool like that".

Clever cookies Kara Roselund and husband Tim were! On returning to home town Brisbane after working as a photographer/stylist in the UK, Kara and Tim have lovingly restored a 1956 Franklin caravan, affectionately named 'Frankie', and turned it into Travelling Wares - a travelling brocante stall, stocked with beautiful and practical vintage homewares sourced from around the world.

A love of early morning thrill hunting and rattling about at trestle tables in European flea markets inspired Kara to share her 'objets d'art' and found delights from far and wide.

Travelling Wares can be found next at the Jan Powers Farmers Market in Brisbane on Saturday 27 October and for those who can't make it in person, never fear there is also an online store.

tricked out travellers

They may be kitsch and they may be cramped but god damn caravans are cool!
I imagine owning a caravan is very much like being a turtle, taking your time creeping along slowly and then stopping wherever and whenever you like to call it a day. Yep, pretty sweet if you ask me.

So when I came across interior designer Rachel Horn's tricked out 1969 Airstream (below) on Trendland this week I was super impressed with her chic and luxurious Moroccan themed re-furbishment. I mean this puts some 5-star hotel's to shame. Who new you could fit 2 beds, kitchen with cappucino machine, full sized bath and air-con in there?

So then I started searching for some other amazing caravan restorations and I couldn't go past these super cute retro trailer's from caterer Enjoy Cupcakes. Can you imagine Coral the vintage Shasta trailer pulling up at your wedding complete with festive canopy, twinkling fairy lights and full of cupcakes?

Pure genius - and added to my "businesses i'll open one day" list.  xx

It's this time of the year that you start counting down the days until summer holidays and wishing you were anywhere but at work.
Well Corona Extra's 'From Where You'd Rather Be' campaign know's exactly where i'd rather be. The team at Corona took a road trip down the west coast of Mexico in a beat-up 1976 Winebago with some of their more talented friends including Monster Children's Chris Searl who captured these amazing snaps, along with legendary surf director Taylor Steele who caught it all on film.
