How do some people make perfection look so god damn easy?

I don't know the answer myself but I'm pretty sure the girls from Spell & The Gypsy Collective could give us some insight. I mean not only do they get to live the ultimate bohemian lifestyle in Byron Bay designing for their beautiful clothing and jewellery label but they also threw together this stunning impromptu shoot while in Bali last month.

Realising two of their good friends (model Shayna Lamb and photographer Beck Rocchi) were also on the island at the same time - Isabella (Spell) thought why not get the gang together for a spontaneous inspiration shoot for their stunning new winter collection.

FASHION HOUSE DRAMA

Even after watching The Devil Wears Prada i've always loved the idea of working in fashion publishing (just watch The September Issue to understand why) but while the top fashion houses might want us to believe it's all catwalks, globe trotting buying trips and partying with celebrities the truth is there's always plenty of in-house drama & often thanks to some of those larger-than-life designers.

Refinery29 has a fun little article detailing the stories behind 12 of the biggest (or at least, most interesting) names in fashion, and the moments, people and designs that have made them such icons.

And how adorable are the shop-front illustrations by Gabriela Alford.

A common theme I noticed... the Nazi's must have been very well dressed.

BELIEVING IN TOMORRROW

What I like most about change is that it's a synonym for hope. If you are taking a risk what you are really saying is "I believe in tomorrow and I will be a part of it". Linda Ellerbee

They say change is as good as a holiday - so amidst my winter blues I've given Paper Social a little sprucing up. You like?

According to my horoscope the winds of change are coming, so I'm doing my best to embrace it. Don't be surprised to see or hear about some more changes before the end of the year too. Time to take control - I am the master of my own destiny!

COOL KIDS // THE FAMILY LOVE TREE

It's funny how trends come and go. Cane furniture and macrame reminds me of holidays at my nan & pop's house back in the late eighties/early nineties so I can't really imagine wanting to incorporate it into my own interiors style... until I saw this.

Melbournian Katie Graham has taken all the wild bohemian spirit of rattan furniture, handcrafted screens and macrame hangers and eclectically blended them with the contemporary edge of modern screen printed fabrics bursting in colour to give birth to The Family Love Tree.

And it's not hard to believe Katie credits her inspiration for The Family Love Tree to her tropical second honeymoon in Bali. I mean who doesn't come home from Bali bursting with inspiration (and a suitcase full of Bintang singlets and fisherman pants).

TRUE BLUE

Can you believe that in the last 6 weeks I've been to Ikea three times??? And although always a draw card, it wasn't the swedish meatballs that had me back again over the weekend. On Friday Ikea launched their new limited edition Simply Blue collection (or True Blue for the rest of the world) - an exclusive mix of Swedish design with Indian craft and colour.

Inspired by the very fabric of Indian culture the collection includes glassware, rugs, cushions and paper decorations. I easily could have loaded each and every piece into my trolley but I restrained myself to just the Bladspinnare and Barrspinarre cushions as well as the gold tasselled Broaryd pendant lamp shade. But there's always next weekend to go back for more...

THREADS // PLANET BLUE LOOK BOOK LOVE

I'm loving these three completely different summer look books from Planet Blue.

Photographed by Zoey Grossman, Tropical Squeeze is colourful take on bold shapes and patterns while Don't Mind If I Do screams the indie styling of Venice Beach. But it's the dreamy beach scene mixing relaxed neutral cottons with boho beach hair of Blue Life that I just can't tear my eyes away from.

SUGAR PAPER

Kraft paper, hand lettering, hot pink & gold foil... these are a few of my favourite things - and all wrapped up together in one beautiful letter press collection from Los Angeles stationery company Sugar Paper. Love!
