WANDERLUST // SALA RATTANAKOSIN BANGKOK
Balmy Bangkok nights just got a little cooler with the new Sala Rattanakosin boutique hotel, designed by interior architects Onion.
The renovation project saw the conversion of seven shophouses in one of Bangkok's oldest and vibrant parts of the city; Ta Tien, into a boutique 17 room hotel along the waterfront of the Chao Phraya River.
Sitting directly opposite the Temple of Dawn, one of Bangkok's most recognisable landmarks, Onion has designed the hotel to take advantage of the views from every vantage point, most impressively the roof top bar at sunset where you can also catch glimpses of Wat Po, temple of the reclining buddha.
While a clean and contemporary aesthetic rules, Onion paid much attention to preserving alot of the original architectural elements and materials, including use of the original folding doors, handrails and exposed brick walls.
Basically the Sala Rattanakosin is one hell of a photogenic hotel!!
