LUST HAVE // BLACKLIST STUDIO PRINTS

Today's post has been a long time coming, just ask the girls at work how much I go on about these guys. I think the reason why it's taken me this long is because like your favourite secluded beach etc, I just didn't want to have to share Blacklist Studio Prints with anyone else, but i'm feeling particularly unselfish today, so here they are. You can thank me later.

I already have a number of pieces from Jaynie & Nathan's (yep, that's the gorgeous couple above) limited edition collections at home, with my favourites being the We Built This City watercolour print and Young Hearts wall flag, but now I can't stop thinking about this replica vintage world map, which i'm crossing my fingers and toes will be back in stock again soon. Perfect christmas present (hint, hint).

What's not to love about these bold, vintage-style, travel posters from new kid on the block Custom Canvas Company.

Designer Alan Walsh is launching his 'Travels of Vivienne' collection at Sydney's The Foxhole Small Bar on October 31, journeying through some of Europes most glamarous destinations with his impeccably cool, minimalist designs.

CONFESSIONS OF A DESIGNER

Loving this Confessions of a Designer project by Anneke Short. She's taken the words right out of my mouth!

HANDY TYPE

Typography really is a love of mine and I can appreciate the two extremes between hard line, crisp, clean type setting and the more organically relaxed and some times quirky hand-lettering.

The typeface you choose really does set the character for your design and i'm loving the imperfect styling of Portland based hand letterer and illustrator Mary Kate McDevitt. She's inspired me for a small project in the works back in the office, so hopefully I'll have done a good enough job to post the results for you all in the coming month. Keep an eye out.

SUGAR PAPER

Kraft paper, hand lettering, hot pink & gold foil... these are a few of my favourite things - and all wrapped up together in one beautiful letter press collection from Los Angeles stationery company Sugar Paper. Love!

LIVE THE LANGUAGE

I think I may have died and gone to heaven. Typography heaven to be exact.

These video campaigns for EF language schools have captured the spirit of cities like Paris, Barcelona, LA and Sydney with the magical marriage of playful cinematography overlayed with to-die-for typography from director Niklas Johansson and designer Albin Holmqvist.

Understandably the older cities in the series such as Paris get the best treatment with some amazingly romantic and deco-inspired fonts, however the young guns of Los Angeles and Sydney are just as culturally absorbing.

Even though i'm probably well passed student age now - these films really make me want to strap the backpack on and hit up Barcelona and beyond.

edible cookbook

German design agency Korefe are eating their own words... literally. The Real Cookbook is the first and only cook book you can read, cook and eat.

Made from fresh pasta, each page is inscribed with the steps to create your own traditional lasagne and while this was only a limited edition commission for Gerstenberg Publishing House I think Korefe might be on to something here.

Even a lousy cook like myself can't go wrong with this... as long as I can read german. xx
