THREADS // ALICE MCCALL'S BABOOSHKA BABES

Don't you think everything's more fun when you can share it with someone else? (not to mention share the workload). Well that's why i've asked my good friend (and total babe) Kellie  to jump on board the Paper Social crazy train as our new fashion contributor and her first post is a beauty!! Take it away Kel...

Aptly titled after the infamous Kate Bush song, Alice McCall's spring/summer 2013 collection was inspired by you guessed it, Russian Babushka dolls.

The perfect mix of bohemian youthfulness, sexiness and a touch of romance, the Babooshka collection combines bright Hungarian folk art embroidery with chrisp layers of sheer white, perfect for a summer garden party. Pantone colour of the year 'Tangerine Tango' features prominently amongst a pallete of neon brights and pastel blue.

Starting out as a stylist the London born designer launched her first collection here in 2004. Now stocked accross the globe McCall is definitely one the darlings of Australian fashion and I will be making a bee-line for her Darlinghurst boutique come pay day, so if you need me, you know where to find me.

paper heaven

Bucket List item #14: Attend the National Stationery Show in New York.

Some of you might think this weird but for those who know me well, know that i'm pretty much addicted to paper goods and stationery. Today I think I counted 9 different notebooks on my desk at work - only 2 of which actually had notes in them.

As a kid I used to love the first day of school because it meant brand new pens, pencils and notebooks. And even now I always start the year off with about 4 diaries because I can never make my mind up.

So you can understand why the National Stationery Show is pretty much my nirvana, but because I'm stuck here in Sydney I have to live vicariously through lucky duck's Cyd Converse (The Sweetest Occasion) and Grace Bonney (DesignSponge) instead. Here's some of my favourite designs and stands but you can check-out the full round-ups here and here.

oh happy days on paper

Oh happy days! I'm not going to lie. If I was to receive a hand written note on this colour scrumptious note paper from design studio tokketok i'd probably be more than a little giddy.

I know paper goods and stationery aren't most people's obsession but how could that neon colour and gold foil combination not get you excited? Seriously.

And of course the fact that these sets are only for "happy" occasions means that it would be impossible not to crack a smile.
