FORECAST // DULUX COLOUR TRENDS 2014

Dulux released their 2014 colour forecast last year but it wasn't until I saw these amazing images styled by the likes of Wilhemina McCarroll and Heather Nette King that their Future Tribes vision really came to life. The Future Tribes concept consists of 4 communities brought together by similar interests in life philosophies, aesthetics and of course... colour.

Here are each of the 4 tribes below. My favourite has to be The Precious Elementals. Who can resist the combined power of copper and steely blue?

Deeply aware of the affect civilisation is having on the earth, The Precious Elementals instinctively respect and value our earth's natural resources, elements and geometric forms.

Colourful destinations such as India, Africa and Morocco inspire the image and imagination of The Digital Nomad. A global fusion of tribal reflection resulting from clashing cultures and resukting in contrast colours that form digital patterns and  eclectic interiors.
Styling: Heather Nette King and Bree Leech

Romanticising decorative periods of history The Romantic Spirits search for ways to incorporate nostalgia and past items into their technologically-dominated world.
Styling: Geoffrey Carran

Looking forward the future is bright. However, The Retro Visionaries know this world would not look the same without retrospective design. Influenced by the styles of the late 20th century, when digital culture was first emerging and still being shaped by icons of the 50's, The Retro Visionaries vision is quirky, colourful and energetic.

STICKY BEAK // EMMADIME STUDIO

Ever dreamt of ditching the 9-5 cubicle job and starting up on your own - in your own creative space? Me too, so today's sticky beak really does hit the spot for me - it's the amazingly light filled studio of Californian graphic designer Emma Robertson of EMMADIME.

395 square feet in Oakland's Jack London Square is Emma's new creative space after leaving LA and moving to the Bay Area. Emma scored big with weathered timber floors, super high ceilings, white walls and traditional warehouse louver windows and by adding an array of lush greenery and those to-die-for butterfly style lounge chairs she's practically plucked my ideal space straight out of my dreams.

POSTCARDS // BARCELONA PART 2

Barcelona is that great mix of the old town and the ocean. Just 20 minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of La Ramblas you can find yourself dipping your toes in the Balearic Sea. Barceloneta beach is dotted with beach bars, tapas restaurants and deck chairs - a top combination to escape the spanish heat.

POSTCARDS // BARCELONA PART 1

I've fallen in love with Barcelona. I'd been told by a few people before I left that this was definitely 'my kind of city' but i didn't think i'd fall so hard.

Being a summer girl - late autumn in Europe was always going to be a challenge for me - but this glistening, un-pretentious coastal city was just what I needed between chilly Paris and London. With the coat left in the suitcase and my parents in tow, between sangrias we explored the harbour, the beaches, the old town, the shopping and of course the amazing architecture of Gaudi.
